Spiced Seeds & Nuts

25g = 1 allowable snack

  • 50g raw cashews
  • 50g raw almonds
  • 50g pumpkin seeds
  • 50g sunflower seeds
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  1. Preheat oven to 160°C.
  2. Line a tray with non-stick baking paper.
  3. Place cashews, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and oil in a bowl and mix well.
  4. Combine ground cumin, coriander, chilli powder and salt in a small bowl.
  5. Add the spice mix to the nuts and seeds, toss until coated.
  6. Spread nuts and seeds in a single layer on the tray. Cook in preheated oven, stirring occasionally, for 5-10 minutes or until toasted and aromatic.
  7. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  8. Divide mixture into 8 portions of 25g (25g = 1 alowable snack).

Tip: Portion nuts into ziplock bags or small containers for freshness and convenience.

Hi deejaysydney, Yes, nuts are naturally high in fat, which is why it's important to only consume nuts in moderation. They're very good for you and make wonderful snacks, but it's important not to overdo your nut consumption when it comes to keeping your weight in check. And yes, you should combine the salt with the other spices - thanks for bringing this to our attention; we've updated the recipe instructions to reflect this. Enjoy!

13 grams of fat in a 25 gram serve? And what do yiu do with the salt in tge ingredients since it is omitted from the instructions? I assume it goes in the spice mix.

These are very tasty but I will leave the pumpkin seeds out next time as didn't like them.
